A bond about to be born

Midwife and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)

As a midwife and IBCLC, I will provide you with clarity, useful resources, and sensitivity at any stage of the pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, and breastfeeding process to accompany you with calm and love, respecting your life stage.

I am Marta García, a midwife and IBCLC

Following our instinct gives us back power in a crucial stage such as gestation, birth and the first months of a new life.

Since 2018, I have been supporting women and families in welcoming their babies peacefully, knowledgeably, and safely, from pregnancy through breastfeeding, respecting the needs of everyone involved.

I am an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), a perinatal psychologist, and I am currently pursuing a Diploma in Process-Oriented Psychology, driven by a personal and professional need to understand the more sensitive and complex aspects of our nature.

No two pregnancies, births, or postpartum periods are the same. That's why I offer individualized and trauma-sensitive care to support you through your motherhood journey.

The arrival of your baby is one of life’s most significant events, leaving a lasting imprint on the psyche and body of both mother and child. It is also a highly intense period for the partner or primary support person, family, and community.

Experiencing the entire process with a midwife with whom you have a connection helps reduce fear of childbirth and increases maternal satisfaction.

And, in general, being accompanied by a midwife at any stage of the process, even if you haven’t previously bonded with her, leads to better health outcomes for both mother and baby, an increased sense of control and autonomous, informed decision-making at each stage, a lower risk of unnecessary interventions during childbirth, a lower likelihood of needing an epidural during labor or a cesarean section, a higher probability of spontaneous labor, greater success in breastfeeding, and a lower risk of postpartum anxiety and depression.

So I can support you

I'm Marta García

Since 2018, I have been supporting women and families in welcoming their babies with love, in an informed and safe manner, from pregnancy to breastfeeding.

I am particularly interested in the prevention and treatment of birth trauma, the preservation of the mother-child bond, and the bond between the mother and child and the rest of their family and community, from pregnancy through postpartum.

It is fulfilling to practice my profession by being the joyful, strong, confident, sensitive, and up-to-date person that families need during such a fascinating, powerful, and delicate time.

I have been involved in public and private projects working to ensure women’s sexual and reproductive rights and the right of children to be born in peace.

I have worked in the only two public birth centers in the history of Spain and in one private one in Catalonia.

I was president of the Titània-Tascó cooperative, which provides support for home births, and where I worked for two years.

I have also worked as a midwife in various health centers and delivery rooms of regional and high-complexity hospitals.

Before working on projects and in hospitals in Spain, I spent a great deal of time learning from traditional midwives, known as parteras, in Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, and Tanzania, as well as from other independent home birth midwives in Catalonia. I feel that these experiences made me more critical and helped me understand that there isn’t just one way to do science or to understand the body, but rather the same power of life arriving and of instinct, time and time again.

I work to support that instinct, to preserve it for as long as possible in favor of the precious and unbreakable bond between creatures and their families.

Now you know who I am and what I can offer you.

I would love to get to know you a little better and for you to get to know me too, as well as ask me your questions and needs, so that we can both decide if I am the right person to accompany you.
